Thriving Nature

A healthy ecosystem is critical to supporting life and safeguarding a biodiverse future

Picture thriving nature: rich biodiversity underwater and on land, with people living in harmony with our natural resources. This means protecting what we have and restoring what is lost.

Encompassing more than 70% of the world’s surface, the ocean is not just a vast expanse of water; it’s the lifeblood of our planet and its people. Yet, today, it faces unprecedented threats, endangering both human and ecological well-being. As the primary producer of oxygen and a critical carbon sink, the ocean plays a pivotal role in regulating our climate and safeguarding our future. However, rampant plastic pollution and unsustainable exploitation of ocean resources continue to threaten its delicate ecosystems.

We are driven by a deep sense of urgency to address these challenges head-on. We seek out ambitious partners and champion innovative solutions aimed at reducing land-based plastic use, preventing plastic leakage into our oceans, and advocating for sustainable utilization of ocean-based resources. Our commitment extends to empowering projects that foster socio-economic activities within ocean environments and initiatives that educate communities about the profound impact of human activities on these fragile ecosystems.

ATMEC is mapping coral reef connectivity in the Gulf of Thailand to improve coral restoration efforts. The project will collect data during coral spawning seasons in 2025 and 2026 to create a baseline connectivity map, identifying key sites for coral recruitment. Findings will be tested through the deployment of Coral Sanctuary Units (CSUs) over a two-year monitoring period, informing future reef management strategies under DMCR.

Land-based Ecosystem Management

The lungs of our planet!

Land-based EcosystemPhoto by ECCA

Our terrestrial ecosystems are the backbone of life on Earth, yet they face unprecedented threats from land degradation, deforestation, and unsustainable human activities. As we lose our forests at an alarming rate, the urgency of protecting and restoring these vital habitats cannot be overstated. Terrestrial forests, often referred to as Earth’s lungs, play a crucial role in regulating our climate and providing essential ecosystem services. However, rampant deforestation and the unsustainable use of forest resources jeopardize their ability to continue functioning as carbon sinks and biodiversity hotspots.

We recognize the critical importance of preserving our land-based ecosystems for the well-being of both people and the planet. We are committed to partnering with organizations and supporting initiatives that combat land degradation, promote sustainable agricultural practices, and empower local communities to become stewards of their natural environments.
