Challenge

Youths from vulnerable backgrounds face numerous challenges in achieving their life aspirations. They often lack financial and social resources, which limits their exposure to various opportunities and experiences. In Singapore, one in every 1,000 secondary school students drops out, exacerbating inequality and reducing their potential to contribute to the local talent pool. These youths often encounter barriers such as limited access to education and career guidance, social stigma, and a lack of supportive networks, making it difficult for them to realize their full potential.

The capacity development partnership between ECCA Family Foundation and Hatch addresses these challenges by enhancing existing programs and strengthening cross-sector collaborations. Hatch offers a person-centric approach through their Immersive/Immersive+ Program, which equips vulnerable youths with in-demand skills such as digital marketing, UI/UX design, and data analysis. The program provides access to experienced mentors, job-matching services, and transition support within a positive community network. Additionally, Hatch offers free webinars and publishes articles on digital skills and career advice, making information accessible to all.

This comprehensive support system has led to significant improvements in income and job stability among graduates, with many transitioning from casual to permanent or contract employment, and others pursuing further education. By creating tailored environments and resources, Hatch helps vulnerable youths overcome barriers and achieve positive life outcomes.
