With Nature on Our Side
BY MARIE RUWET AND FLORINE SCHMID

This project intimately captures daily life in Árneshreppur, one of Iceland’s most isolated villages, inhabited by only 12 residents throughout the year. Through the evocative photography of Florine Schmid and Marie Ruwet, it reveals how people coexist with Iceland’s harsh yet breathtaking landscape, highlighting themes of resilience, solitude, and connection to nature.
“The story by Florine Schmid and Marie Ruwet about the connection between humans and nature really caught my eye. The calmness in their images resonated with me. This project emphasizes the importance of protecting the environment, which is more crucial now than ever. I hope they can share this work with more people with the help of the grant”.
